Doing the London Marathon!
SAHETI alumnus Malcolm Peters (Class of 1986) recently reflected on his experience at the London Marathon, describing it as both demanding and unforgettable. A week after the race, he noted that the physical toll-particularly the heat and the strain on his back, shoulders, and feet-made the event a true test of resilience, especially from the halfway mark onward.
Despite the challenges, the atmosphere of the marathon proved uplifting. The energy of the crowds, the music, and London’s iconic scenery played a crucial role in keeping him motivated throughout the race. Even more memorable were the fellow runners he encountered along the way. From inspiring individuals such as a blind runner who had travelled from South Africa to others with unique stories and approaches, the experience was filled with moments of camaraderie, inspiration, and even humour.
The event itself was marked by remarkable achievements, including record-breaking participation and performance, adding to the significance of the occasion.
For Malcolm Peters, completing the marathon was not only a personal milestone but also a moment of gratitude and pride, reflecting the perseverance and spirit fostered within the SAHETI Alumni community.
Well done Malcolm. What an achievement!
