Nicholas Ellis

Nicholas Ellis has a Masters In Education (Avondale College New South Wales Australia). He is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

He has written and published two poetry books: He published his first poetry book in 2004, “Looking for the Inner Soul” and in 2018 “ Birth of the Inner Soul”. In 2001 he was awarded the International Poetry of Merit award in Washington DC. In 2002 Nicholas was awarded the International Poetry of Merit award in Orlando. When he lived in South Africa, he was the Headmaster at Bishop Bavin School Bedfordview.

He is currently residing in Australia and is the Deputy Principal of Prescott College Southern South Australia.

“Looking back on my years at SAHETI, I realise that this was more than just a school - in many respects, it was a family, a group of teachers, parents and students who together raised a child, as the adage says "it takes a village..." Well my village was SAHETI school. SAHETI allowed every student to excel in their chosen fields, from the arts to the sciences, on the playground to sports fields. We were all thoroughly prepared for what life threw our way, which has only been confirmed in recent conversations with my classmates of 1989 and how well they have all done. 30 years on I only have the fondest memories of SAHETI, from being a part of theatrical plays in the Avli to being a prefect and doing traffic light duty.

As I close my eyes while I pen this article my minds gallery has fond pictures of the cultural days, celebrations and of course the rich Greek traditions and food, especially OXI day where I was allowed to don the traditional dress and dance until my heart was content. I must say, that although we were prepared academically and culturally in the school it was on the sports fields where we learnt to struggle and push ourselves to the limits as we proudly wore the 1st Team Cap and triumphed over our adversaries. SAHETI is a “village" which always has and will always care for it’s tribesmen with loving, nurturing, gentle hands. God Bless the past and present teachers, students and parents. May your journey be rich in the beauty that is SAHETI”.
