Maurice Crespi

Maurice studied law at Rhodes University. He graduated with a BA LLB and later completed a Higher Diploma in Company Law at Wits. In 1998 and immediately after his articles, he partnered with Hilton Schindler. At that time Schindlers had a staff complement of three.

Hilton soon thereafter immigrated to the United Kingdom and Maurice began growing the business by inviting and partnering with attorneys whom he knew from his university days. 20 years later the firm now has in excess of 160 staff members, over 60 of whom are professionals. Schindlers has won various awards locally and internationally.

The firm makes a point of assisting those in need and has won the Law Society of the Northern Provinces Pro Bono award three years in a row. Whist the firm focuses on all aspects of the law, Maurice’s team’s focus is primarily on litigation.

He has acted for the CEO of SAA, CFO of Telkom, was involved in assisting SARS senior management during the SARS State Capture purge, advises boards of listed companies and has several victories in both the Constitutional Court and Supreme Court of Appeal. Maurice’s corporate clients include Fortune 500 companies and the likes of Investec, Nike and Santam.

Maurice says that he credits much of his success to SAHETI’s entrepreneurial spirit.
