CLASS OF 2016
The matric valedictory dinner took place on 7 October 2016, with ΣAHETI Alumni Committee member, Pano Stamatiades, as guest speaker. It is here where the Matriculants are officially inducted into the ΣAHETI Alumni community.
It has become customary for the ΣAHETI Alumni Association to present each Matriculant with a gift - a symbolic gesture - to use with pride and to continue making their valuable contribution in safekeeping SAHETI for the generations to follow.
This year the gift was worry beads, known as Komboloi in the Greek language. It has a sterling silver Σ rooted in the centre of the bracelet. The sigma represents the ‘S’ in SAHETI: a Hellenic feature unique to our school. Each Komboloi is made unique by also adding the initial of the Alumnus/a, also in sterling silver.
Worry beads are used in Greece and Cyprus as a way of showing national pride. They are popular gifts between friends and family.
