This year saw the introduction of an official open day for the Alumni of SAHETI. Hosted by the SAHETI Alumni Office and Executive Headmaster Warwick Taylor, Alumni from the class ’81 – ’85 were invited for a trip down memory lane.

The day started with breakfast session with Mr Taylor, who shared SAHETI’s strategy and where he plans to take the school in the next 5 years. Alumni, Christine (Poulitsis) Stylianakis (1985) living in Australia and Paul Marambos (1983) living in New Zealand, joined the discussion via video skype.

It was a superb discussion as past pupils reminisced about their teachers and their days back at school. This was followed by a tour of the school and plans for new developments were debated. On the rugby field the high school staged a magnificent performance as they presented numerous new war cries written for the 2016 sports season. Alumni were given the difficult task of selecting the war cry most fitting to SAHETI and the schools identity.

A fantastic opportunity for Alumni to play their role in preserving SAHETIs heritage and ethos. The day ended off with a snack in the school tuck shop, where Alumni felt quite at home.

A big thank you to the Alumni for their generous donation of the outdoor bench, a 100% recycled plastic bench, which has found its place in the new Foundation Phase playground. An appropriate gift in line with SAHETIs intent to support environmentally conscious initiatives.

This will become an annual event on the SAHETI Alumni calendar and we look forward to welcoming back Alumni to our school.
