On Saturday 1 November 2014, the class of 2004 descended together with spouses and partners, to celebrate their first reunion at the Hyde Park Hotel. 10 years since we matriculated. Feels like yesterday we were all sitting at the infamous tuck shop discussing the much anticipated matric dance, matric holiday and our plans for the future the following year. Before you know its 10 years later - the year 2014 - and time for our high school reunion. Bianca Prinsloo took the lead by creating a Facebook page to co-ordinate and plan for the big day. There was much excitement for a get together and catch up of a decade of memories and stories. Facebook was buzzing with ideas and suggestions and we decided to go for a relaxed evening at the Hyde Park Hotel to catch up.

The day arrived with much excitement. As everyone started to arrive it felt as though we’d never parted and the discussions flowed uninterrupted. Brett Riskowitz shared pictures of his gorgeous little girl. Lauraine Giacovazzi (Kammitsis) described a day in her life with her beautiful children. Natalie Odell beamed with excitement on her engagement; and Morgan Gil arrived as we all remembered him - with a huge smile on his face.

A highlight of the evening was to have Kyria Elena Piperidis and Mr Jaco Kruger attend our reunion. It was an evening filled with fond memories, great traditions, excellent food and top class company. Friendships were rekindled as we reminisced about our great days at SAHETI. We had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Headmaster, Warwick Taylor, who greeted us with open arms and encouraged us to visit SAHETI on a regular basis.

Thank you to SAHETI and especially to Tonia Yiannoulakis for her help, encouragement and support to make this great evening a success. We all received copies of our 2004 year book, an absolute gem with vignettes of our days at SAHETI. Our special gift from the SAHETI Alumni Association, a symbolic gesture to keep the common bonds among SAHETIANs alive, meant so much to us all. For those who could not attend, we missed you but look forward to our next reunion.

It was universally agreed that this was an event not to be forgotten and our hope is to be in a position to send our children to SAHETI to experience what we were lucky enough to experience.
