The Prize of Peace

SAHETI School stages world premiere

Twenty years after the release of Nelson Mandela from Robben Island, SAHETI School in Bedfordview presents The Prize of Peace by Les Morison, a play that offers pupils the opportunity to question possibilities within a challenging and changing South Africa. The play deals with a fictional recreation of a dialogue between Nelson Mandela and FW De Klerk on the eve before the two leaders were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo. As their individual contexts are revealed, the audience engages in the possibility and vulnerability of peace in a world that is not always ready for it.

The play was premiered on the SAHETI stage on June 1, 2 and 3. The cast consisted of Faith Tshibingu as Nelson Mandela, Jason Michael as FW de Klerk, Eleni Bizos as the Chef and Gabriella Zachos as the Security Guard.
