The top performers at SAHETI High School’s annual inter-house gala were: Dimitri Yiannoulakis (senior Victor Ludorum), Sophia Yiannopoulos (senior Victrix Ludorum), Marko Mavrikis (junior Victor Ludorum) and Eleni Thomadakis (junior Victrix Ludorum).

Kimon Kokkoris was named Victor Ludorum, and Tina Piagalis Victrix Ludorum at SAHETI Primary School’s inter-house gala. Both swimmers represent the winning house, Artemis, so it was a double celebration.

Congratulations to Stelio Hajimarkos, Yianni Charalampopoulos and Christo Charalampopoulos who have been selected to represent the Gauteng East provincial tennis squad for 2013.

Three SAHETI pupils recently received provincial colours for lifesaving: Anita Pillay (nippers), Nicolas Gonatas (senior) and Tejal Pillay (senior). They will represent Gauteng at the national championships being held in Cape Town from 19 – 22 February.

SAHETI guitarist  Gabriela Steenekamp has recorded her debut album “Born” which is available on iTunes (artist: Gaby & Denys). The Grade 9 pupil composed the music jointly with her mentor, Denys Geel, and the album was professionally recorded at Toneworks Studios in 2012. The music video “Hi Noon” on YouTube is a taste of the guitar duo’s work and has already had hundreds of hits, mainly from France and Argentina. The artists are already working on their second album, due to be released by the end of the year.

SAHETI supports SANParks
SAHETI Primary School pupils were part of a recent relief effort to support SANParks employees who lost all their possessions in the recent floods. Together with five other schools, they responded enthusiastically to the initiative by a Grade 11 King David Linksfield pupil – Nadav Ossendryver – who, through his website latestsightings.com made a call for goods and funds to address the damage caused by flooding in the Kruger National Park. An arranged drop-off took place at King David Linksfield, where donations of food, clothing, blankets and toys were delivered, with SANParks Honorary Rangers in attendance. Also present were members of the Land Rover Owners Club of South Africa, who had volunteered to transport the goods to the Kruger Park.
