International rock band Kongos – which is made up of four brothers who are past pupils of SAHETI  – visited the school on Friday 20 January, 15 years after leaving for the USA. The brothers – Johnny, Jesse, Dylan and Danny – are sons of well-known South African singer-songwriter, John Kongos. They grew up in London and South Africa, and are now based in Phoenix, Arizona. The band held a special fund-raising performance at Tanz Cafe on the same evening , in support of the George Bizos SAHETI Scholarship and Bursary Fund

The top performers in SAHETI High School’s annual inter-house gala  were: Dimitri Yiannoulakis (senior Victor Ludorum), Federica Scalla (senior Victrix Ludorum), Savva Panagiotou (junior Victor Ludorum) and Alexandra Loffstadt (junior Victrix Ludorum).  Dimitri also broke the record for breaststroke 50m on the day.

Kimon Kokkoris was named Victor Ludorum, and Gabriela Evangelou Victrix Ludorum at SAHETI Primary School’s inter-house gala.

SAHETI past pupil and world renowned artistCandice Breitz –who lives and works in Germany, is back in South Africa for the first comprehensive survey exhibition of her work to be presented in the country, entitled “Extra!”. The exhibition runs at the Standard Bank Gallery until 5 April 2012.

The former deputy Head Prefect matriculated from SAHETI 23 years ago and went on to study art, achieving an M Phil from Columbia University. She has shown her work on the international scene for many years,  and is currently based in Berlin as Professor of Fine Art at the Braunschweig University of Art. A “meet-the-artist” fundraiser is being held at the Standard Bank Gallery on Saturday 11 February at 11h00, the proceeds of which will go towards the George Bizos SAHETI Scholarship and Bursary Fund.
